Eve
Eve is the second planet and the largest terrestrial planet in the kerbolar system. It's atmosphere has an intense purple color and it is mostly shrouded in a glowing purple cloud layer. Eve has one tiny moon, Gilly, and has the strongest surface gravity of any celestial body in the kerbolar system. Along with its dense atmosphere, these two features make eve the most difficult world to return to Kerbin from. Despite this massive hurdle, Eve is a decent target for early interplanetary missions due to its proximity to kerbin.
Synopsis
Eve's gorgeous cloud cover, picturesque liquid-sulfur oceans and cute moon give the impression of an ideal tourist hotspot. Unfortunately eve's intense gravitational pull and dense high-pressure atmosphere tend to turn visits into one-way trips. As our engineers say: "come for the views, stay because your ship exploded on entry."
Surface
Eve's surface is mostly brownish, flat and composed primarily of volcanic basalt. While there is not much evidence for extensive volcanic activity on the surface of Eve there is one massive volcano called Olympus that has its own science region.
Oceans
About half of Eve's surface is covered in liquid sulfur oceans, which are twice as dense as Kerbin's liquid water oceans. Eve's oceans contain traces of sulfuric acid, hydroiodic acid, hydrogen sulfide and other corrosive chemicals. The surface of Eve is therefore one of the most inhospitable environments for carbon-based life.
Atmosphere
The atmosphere of Eve is about 5 times the pressure of Kerbin and over 5 times as dense. It is mostly composed of carbon dioxide with large amounts of hydrogen sulfide argon and sulfur dioxide. the average molecular mass of the atmosphere is 43 g mol and the average temperature is about 420°C. Eve's atmosphere is intensely purple due to the presence of iodine compounds such as gaseous iodine, hydroiodic acid and iodine ions. The glowing clouds are produced from an argon isotope in the atmosphere that gets excited from interactions with kerbolar radiation.
Magnetosphere
Eve has an induced magnetic field and does not possess a dynamo of its own, despite its massive size.
