Parts

Parts are used to build vessels in-game via the Vehicle Assembly Building. Parts are categorized by family and size. In Exploration Mode parts are unlocked for use by researching them using Science, whereas as in Sandbox Mode all parts are immediately available for use.

Organization

Parts are separated into different groups based on their functionality. Parts that share a broad general purpose all belong to a category such as engines or utility. Within a category, parts that share more similar functionalities than others are grouped into families such as methalox engines or parachutes. In either type of grouping, parts can also be sorted by size.
