IX-6315 "Dawn" is a Xenon electric deep space engine. It is unlocked from Xenon Propulsion in Tier 2 of the Tech Tree . It features a compact design with a unique hexagonal exhaust grill. The engine consumes Xenon gas and Electric Charge to generate thrust.
It is currently the only engine in the game which consumes Xenon and requires electricity to run rather than generating it. Its unique plume features a bright blue color.
Usage
The "Dawn" is effectively useless in atmosphere but extremely efficient in vacuum, at the cost of very limited thrust and requiring a considerable amount of power. Significant solar power may suffice closer to a star, but usage in the further reaches of space may require alternate sources of power to maintain operation. Its incredible efficiency makes it a strong contender for small, long-distance probes.
