The following are guidelines for various aspects of writing article content about, established by consensus among KSP 2 Wiki editors. Please discuss them on the talk page if you have ideas or questions. Editors should also be familiar with the main Manual of Style.

Naming conventions[edit source]

Research node articles are to be titled explicitly per their appearance in-game, e.g. Tiny Engines, Heavy Landings, Radiation Science, Space Truckin', et cetera. Generally aim to use the word "research" to describe acquiring/unlocking the nodes.

Layout[edit source]

The following labels describe the ordering of sections used in articles related to research nodes, listed in order as they should be included in an article. Underlined items are required for article. These do not necessarily have to respond to the actual section headers and divisions. Do not try to conform to them if they are not helping to improve the article.

  • Infobox: The infobox should be present at the top of the article. Contents here should adhere to the template documentation.
  • Hatnote: Research node articles in particular often benefit from hatnotes directing readers to other articles or sections with similar titles. While not required for every article, they are strongly recommended when applicable.
  • Lead section: The name of the node should be in bold, its tech tree tier and Science cost go first. Then any brief, notable details (e.g. Xenon Propulsion being the only node with Xenon parts). End this section with noting the prerequisite research node.
  • Parts Acquired: Introduce the section with mention of how many parts are unlocked in the node and a brief description of their overall trend or any notable parts. Use a bulleted list to list the parts according to the order listed in-game.
  • Synopsis: The in-game description of the node in italics, explicitly as present in the latest version and inclusive of typos.
  • Trivia: If any noteworthy trivia exists for a node, such as a reference in its synopsis, it may be included here.
  • K for Kerb: Community references, jokes, and general un-official tomfoolery (Dres is not real.) should be left to this section. See the Dwarf Fortress Wiki for more.
  • Research Nodes Navbox: The bottom of the page should display the {{Navbox Tech Tree}} template by default.
  • Categories: Relevant [[Categories]] should be listed at the bottom of the article. All parts should be categorized with [[Category:Research Nodes]]. Other categories can be added as necessary.
